Two Wrongs, Don't Make A Right!

Saturday's Devotion (4-3-04)

"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:19-21 (KJV)

I've been talking about loving others and doing good unto them, but I haven't mentioned that we need to love even our enemies. We're often more than ready to get revenge on our enemies. If we're in need and they don't help us, then when we see them in need we say, "Well, you didn't help me! The shoe is on the other foot now!" I can't say that I can't be like that sometimes. I get very angry at some things and then I will find myself seeking revenge. We're not supposed to avenge ourselves, we're not supposed to stoop down to the level of our enemies. If our enemies are in need, then we are to help them just like we should help anyone else. I know that some people out there are only willing to help their enemies do one thing and that is to die, but we should not be this way. We are children of God, we are not of this world and we need to show that! When Jesus, was being tortured on the cross by His enemies, you didn't hear Him saying, "Father, condemn them!" or, "I'll get you for this!" No, that is not what happened! When Jesus, was on the cross some of His words were, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do!" How many of you can truly say that to God, about your enemies? Most of us do not even care if our enemies know what they're doing or not. We just say, "He really messed up now!" Today's message is for me too. I get upset at the wrongs of others and I just want to do their wrongs back to them and two wrongs don't make a right!

With all that being said, we need to let the Lord, handle our enemies. It is not our place to avenge our enemies. If we do good to our enemies, then God, will find no fault with us, but only with our enemies. When you do right even when others are doing wrong, you find no trouble. However, if you make trouble because they made trouble... you find yourself in the same spot as them. You find yourself just as guilty as your enemies are. Do you want to be guilty before God, for something that He could've handled for you? Why get yourself in trouble for something that you don't need to do? Treat your enemies with love and don't worry about getting revenge. You have nothing to prove, if the Lord, is on your side!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and help us to truly forgive our enemies. Bring us close to you and put love in our hearts. Help us to love even those who continue to hate us. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
