Be Quick To Love, Not To Judge!

Friday's Devotion (4-2-04)

"But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." 1 John 3:17-18 (KJV)

Much like faith, love is also taking action! Many people talk about loving others, but when they see others in need, they just say, "Bless you! We love you!" What good does it do a starving man, if we just say, "Bless you and we love you!" and then continue eating your food and give him nothing? People don't realize this or they do and they just don't want to live up to it. We're not loving, if we aren't helping! God, commands us to love one another and if we're just talking about love, but not giving love then we are not following the commandment of God. Growing up as a kid you might've not felt loved, when your parents didn't buy you a new toy or etc. Knowing how that made you feel, how can you deny someone else food or clothing? Food and clothing are much more needed than toys, so the people in need of these things must really feel unloved! We're often quick to judge and hesitant to love, but this should not be. We shouldn't think twice about loving another human being, but we should think twice about judging others! We're a backwards society, to say the least!

It really irritates me to hear about people who judge, but do not love. People who have and refuse to give. Some people call themselves, "Christians", but when they see a man in need they're quick to judge and not quick to love. They're quick to say something like, "They don't want food! They want drugs, I'm not giving them one red cent!" That is not love! If you see a man in need, you don't think about the other possibilities of what he may do with money if he has it! You just give and give as if you're giving unto the Lord! How would you feel if you saw a hungry man and he asked you for help and you judged him, but did not help him. Then the next week or so you see the news on television and it says, "A man was found starved to death!" and they showed a picture of the man and you saw that it was the same guy, you refused to help. How would that make you feel? We refuse to help people all the time and we could be sentencing people to death and we may never know. Do you want to be responsible for the death of a fellow human being? If you're quick to judge, but not quick to love then judge yourself! Because if you were living up to God's standards, then you would help others! Sounds harsh? Well isn't it harsh that people judge, but do nothing to help?

I want you to seriously think about what I said here and I'll be thinking about it myself, I'm sure. Be quick to love, not to judge! God, has given you the power to save lives! God, has given you the power to bless someone's day. If you have the power, don't let it go to waste! We can't enter God's Kingdom, without love.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please bring us close to you and give us your love. Help us to love others and not to judge them. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
