Fear The Lord and Obey Him!

Thursday's Devotion (4-1-04)

"What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:27-28 (KJV)

You know we are often scared to do what God, wants us to do because we're worried about what someone may do to us. It should not be this way. We're commanded not to fear anyone, but the one who can kill both soul and body in Hell and that is God! To fear God, is to obey God. If God, speaks to your heart and tells you to do something, then you go and do it and don't even bother to think of what someone else might say or do to you! The enemy plants all kinds of fear in us, take it from me. The enemy will tell us, "Don't preach the Gospel, they'll laugh at you or kill you!" We're not supposed to worry about those things, because God, is on our side! If we listen to our fears and not to God, then we are fearing men or whatever more than God! Do you know how ridiculous it is to fear man or anything more than God? It is more ridiculous than me fearing an ant more than a big muscular person. Even the big powerful looking people are smaller than ants compared to the Lord, our God! Think about it, are you going to fear God, who is every where and whom you can not hide from or some man who is smaller than an ant compared to God? You can't hide from God!

Let us look at Jonah, he tried to run from the Lord, so he wouldn't have to obey him, but he ended up stuck in the belly of a whale, where he would have no choice, but to obey the voice of the Lord. My point is that there is no running from the Lord, there is no hiding from God. If a man comes after me I can both run and hide, but if God, is after me I have no where to go and nothing to do that will save me! We don't have to worry about what people will do. God, will protect us and even if we end up dying for the fear of the Lord, we will find life and peace. However, if we go through life fearing what man may do, we will always be living in torment. Fear and obey the Lord!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to fear you and not man. Whenever we start to fear anyone or thing besides you, may you remind us to pray and know that you are our protector. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
