Don't Forget To Remember!

Wednesday's Devotion (3-31-04)

"For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body." 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 (KJV)

When we eat our food and drink our drinks, we are to be worthy of doing so. To be worthy is to eat and drink in remembrance of Jesus Christ. He died for us and often we're too hungry to stop for a second and just give thanks and remember what Jesus, did for us. There is really no good reason not to remember and give thanks before we eat and even while we eat or drink. When we eat or drink and don't do it in remembrance of the Lord and don't give thanks, then we are drinking and eating ourselves to damnation! When we do this, we are guilty of the blood and body of Jesus. I for one do not want to be guilty for murdering the Lord, do you? I don't quite understand why we would be guilty of it, but that is what the scriptures say and that is the truth. Maybe it is because Jesus, died for our sins and we refuse to pay tribute, give thanks and show our appreciation. It is a small thing to ask that we remember the Lord, when we eat and drink. It is a small thing to ask, especially if you think about all that He has done for us. I guess it is kind of like this, when we don't give thanks and remember Him, then we are like the people up there murdering and torturing Jesus and everyone else that appreciates what Jesus, did is saying, "Thank you, Lord! Thank you, for going through this for me!" The ones who give thanks and remember Jesus, are the ones standing by and just hoping that they will stop torturing the Lord. Are you guilty of murdering the Lord? It scares me to be guilty of this horrible thing, but we don't have to be guilty. All we have to do is remember Him and thank Him! It is a blessing to remember what Jesus, did for us. It isn't a bad thing to remember Him. Doesn't the thought of someone dying for you, bless you? Who else would die for you? What do you think about at meal time or when you drink? You should be remembering the Lord and I can't say that at times I haven't forgot to give remembrance before I ate or drank, but I will remember later on half way through the meal and say, "Please forgive me!" It is never too late, to remember. I have even done it after I've eaten, because I didn't do it before. You need to do this, but what I'm saying is that you can ask for forgiveness, but try to do this every time! This is something, that you do not want to be guilty of! Don't forget to remember!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please bring us close to you and help us to always remember Jesus and what He did for us, not just at meal time or when we drink, but all the time. We thank you for sending your Son and for giving us life eternal. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
