Keep Going & Growing In The Lord!
Friday's Devotion (3-26-04)
"Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf." 1 Peter 4:16 (KJV)
If we're suffering as Christians, we need to glorify God, for our sufferings. That may sound weird, if you're suffering right now, but it is true. Through our sufferings we are made stronger and through the sufferings we endure we receive a greater gift in Heaven! Suffering, isn't something to be ashamed of as Christians, it is something to glorify God, for! If you're suffering and you tell the wrong people about it, they will tell you, "What? You're suffering as a Christian? Something isn't right with your walk!" Let me tell you something, if someone ever tells you that, do not listen to them! The Bible teaches that if we're living right, we will be persecuted and we will suffer in many ways. With that being said, if you're a follower and have been for awhile, but you haven't had any kind of spiritual warfare, then you need to seek a closer relationship with Jesus. Warfare, is a way of telling that you're doing right. When we're doing right, the enemy wants to destroy us and tear us down. Satan, doesn't want us to live right, he wants us to live completely wrong. If we live right, the enemy knows that we will save many souls and we ourselves will be saved. So, what Satan, does is he sets up many things to discourage us and sometimes he will even discourage us through people. If he can get us to turn away from the Lord, then he has found victory in our life.
On the other hand, if we're not doing right, we will not have warfare. Satan, doesn't want to mess with those who are doing wrong. He has no need to, because they're already at the point he wants them to be at.
If you're a Christian and are living right, then that doesn't mean you will always be suffering. That means suffering will come from time to time, but it is worth it! You can live with peace and joy. Also one day when you've found complete peace with God, you will even be able to have peace and joy through your sufferings. Today's message is to encourage you to keep going and keep growing in the Lord, even through sufferings.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please help us to be strong and to endure our sufferings. Bring us close to you and help us not to be discouraged. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
