Get To Know Him!

Thursday's Devotion (3-25-04)

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." John 15:1-5 (KJV)

I believe that these scriptures are speaking of abiding in the Word of God, because Jesus, is the Word. We can't bear fruit unless we abide in Jesus. To abide in Jesus, we must abide in His Word (The Bible). The Bible, teaches us how to live and when we're doing something wrong the Word, comes to our memory and we are convicted to change our ways. If we're not abiding in the Word, then cannot bear any fruit. I see people who call themselves Christians, but they don't know any scripture and their behavior shows it. The Word of God, is living and able to change our lives and lead us to life eternal. With all that being said, if you don't read and study the Word of God, then you won't bear any fruit and if you don't bear any fruit, you will not make it to Heaven. You will be removed from the vine altogether, if you do not bear any fruit! Sometimes I feel like me telling people to read their Bibles is in vain. I feel like no one is listening. I feel like those who come here and read their Bibles, read them way before I ever mentioned it and everyone else who comes here, really doesn't take heed to my warning. If you read my devotions daily, but you don't obey the message, then there really is no point in reading them. The Bible is the same way, if you read it, but do not obey it, then you're not getting the full effect. Jesus, taught that if you're going to call Him, "Lord" with your mouth, then you should show it with your actions and obey Him. If I read the Bible, but do not obey the commandments in there and then I call Jesus, my Lord, then I am a liar. I am a liar, because a servant obeys their lord or master. If you don't even read the Bible, you really can't say, "Jesus, is my Lord!" because you don't know the first thing about Him and His commandments. If Jesus, isn't truly your Lord, then you're in danger of condemnation! Making Jesus, your Lord, is more than just saying, "Jesus, you're my Lord!" It is like your boss at work, if he or she tells you to do something and you don't do it, then you can't really say that person is your boss. They may have the title of boss at work, but if you don't obey them at work, the title really doesn't mean anything! If you don't obey Jesus, then you calling Him, "Lord" is in vain. You have to obey Jesus, to make it into God's Kingdom! If you don't know His commandments, how can you obey Him? Know His commandments and I'm not just talking about the ten commandments, I'm talking about everything written in the Bible! Get to know Him and how He lived.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Make us clean through your Word and bring us close to you. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
