Pray For More Faith!
Monday's Devotion (3-22-04)
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord." James 1:5-7 (KJV)
Many people ask in unbelief and then when they do not receive what they asked for, they say, "How come God, didn't answer my prayer?" That is a huge question in today's society. We can't waver with our faith and expect to have an effective prayer life. If you waver with your faith, one minute you will pray and believe and then a few minutes later, you will say, "My prayer wasn't answered yet, I might as well forget about it!" Once you let doubt take over, you are not going to have an answered prayer. I've heard of people who have waited years to get their prayers answered and they never gave up hope. They didn't waver, they just kept on waiting for their answer. Those people did get their answered prayer eventually, but it took a lot of faith and they had to keep doubt as far away as possible. The Lord, will test our faith and do a work in our lives. If we're going through a nasty trial, it maybe awhile before the Lord, decides to answer your prayer and that is because He wants to test you. He wants to strengthen you, so you can be stronger in Him and have a closer walk with the Lord. Sometimes it takes a big work before we can be stable in the faith. We may do a lot of wavering before our faith is made strong enough not to waver. My faith isn't strong enough yet.
If we can't believe without wavering, I don't believe that we're hopeless. Look at this scripture, "And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." Mark 9:24 (KJV) What that scripture tells me, is that if we don't have the faith we can ask for it. Once we ask for it, we may have to go through long trials, but eventually we will get what we've asked for. Faith is something that we really need. If you don't have enough faith in the Lord, pray for more faith! Like I said a few days ago, "Even if you do have what you think to be enough faith, pray for more! You can never have enough faith in the Lord!" Without unwavering faith, our chances of making it into God's Kingdom are very slim. Because we are saved by faith. We are saved because we believe that Jesus came, died and rose again for our sins. We are not saved by works, but by faith! Pray for more faith!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Please give us the unwavering faith that we all need. Bring us closer to you, Lord. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
