Take A Step Of Faith & Please God!
Sunday's Devotion (3-21-04)
"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
Faith, is one of the most important things in our walk with the Lord. We are told by the scriptures that without faith, it is impossible to please God. He that comes to God, has to believe in the one he is coming to and they have to believe if they seek God, God, will reward them! The only way we can please God, is through faith. Works are great and they please God, but only when the works are done by faith. If I do something and I don't have faith in the Lord, when I'm doing it, then my works are in vain. My works are in vain because I do not have faith and I am not pleasing God! However, like I always say, "If we say we have great faith, but do not help another person because we worry about our needs, then we are lying. Faith is more than a word, it is an action!" I would guess that whenever you do a work, you have to have some kind of faith to perform it. However, we need to look at what our faith is. When we do works is our faith in Jesus or is our faith in ourselves? Is our faith in ourselves by thinking, "If I do all these works, I will make it to Heaven!"? We can only make it to Heaven, through faith in what Jesus Christ, did for us! When we do works our faith should be, "I'm pleasing God, because I am doing this work out of faith and to please Him!" When we believe in the Lord and trust Him, He is very pleased with us. How can He be pleased with us, if we believe that we have to do all these works to make it into Heaven? He can't be pleased by us, if we think that way! He can only be pleased if we have faith, but with great faith also comes great works! A great work of faith isn't always doing something for someone else, sometimes it is taking a step of faith for yourself. Because if you're doing badly one of the best works you can do for others is the work to better yourself, so you can help others. Noah, did a work of faith that at the time, it seemed like a work just for him and his family. He built the ark and believed that it would flood like God, said it would. He saved himself and if he wouldn't of, none of us would be here today. We wouldn't be here, because all of the humans would've died in the flood and no one would've been able to reproduce because they'd be dead! Don't just take a step of faith for others, but take one for yourself! If you have an addiction, pray to get rid of it and then take a step and say, "God, is going to help me quit!" then do something! Don't just sit there and say, "The Lord, is going to help me quit!" while you're still doing whatever it is that you're addicted to. Quit your addiction and believe that God, is going to get you through! If you're a smoker, then pray and then throw away all of your cigarettes. That is faith! If you can't walk then pray and try to get up and walk! If you pray and then you do nothing, then you will have no result! Because for answered prayers, you must have faith! Take a step of faith and please God!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. We pray for all those in need. Help all of us in need to take a step of faith and to trust you. Please bring us closer to you and give us great faith. In Jesus, name. A-men!
