Spread Love, Not Hatred!

Tuesday's Devotion (3-16-04)

"Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." Romans 13:8-10 (KJV)

We are all commanded to love and if we love we are fulfilling all the laws. We would be fulfilling all the laws, because love works no ill against anyone. If I say I love you and I steal from you or do something harmful against you, then I am a liar. If you're a man, who loves your wife, you will not go and commit adultery with another woman. We often hear the phrase, "Hate crime!" however all crimes are of hate and not love. Anything that we do and know that will cause someone harm is not of love. Sometimes, we need tough love. Because maybe we over feed our children and we know that will cause them problems. If we know it will cause them problems, we need to prevent them from over eating, even if they cry and whine. Love isn't always giving, love is sometimes keeping things that do harm away from other people. If you're a drug dealer, you aren't doing a service out of love, but one out of greed and hatred. Hatred I say, because drugs cause people problems. So, before we act on something we need to look at what we're acting out of. Are we acting out of love or out of hatred? Our dogs got loose once again the other day and I went all over looking for them. I could've easily said, "Well, that is what they want. Let them go!" however, that wouldn't of been out of love. Because they can get ran over out there or they could end up some where really bad. Sometimes people don't really know what they need, like the dogs didn't know what they were getting into. So, if we're working out of love, we will be able to know what to give and not to give. It is pretty easy, if you think about it. If you're working out of love, there will be no harm done at that moment or later on from your actions. If you're not working out of love, then your actions will cause plenty of trouble. If you ask me how your new clothes look on you and I say, "They look great!", but I really think they look horrible, what service am I doing for you? How am I loving you, if I let you look stupid? All sin causes problems and if we sin against someone that is a hate crime. Therefore sin equals hatred and works of truth equal love. Spread love, not hatred!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to forgive those who we have trouble forgiving, because we know that we are not loving if we do not forgive. Also, help us to love everyone as you love us. Bring us closer to you and guide us in your truth. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
