So, You Wanna Become A Minister?
Saturday's Devotion (3-13-04)
"If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." 1 Peter 4:11 (KJV)
A lot of people
are becoming ministers these days, just because they are able to and want the
power to perform religious ceremonies and etc. Anyone can get ordained these
days, through free programs or by paying to become a minister. I just want to
talk about the responsibility of becoming a minister. When we become ministers,
it is supposed to be because we are lead by God, to do so. There is no other
legit reason to become a minister of God, other than that. If we're lead by God,
to become ministers then God, is going to provide us with a gift. He's going to
provide us with an ability to minister. This is how ministers bring glory to
God. They bring glory to God, through their God, given gifts and abilities. I
became a minister and I did it, because I felt lead to do so. If I became a
minister for all the wrong reasons and I don't have a gift, then what glory do I
bring to God? What glory do I bring to God, if I'm a legal minister with no
talent in teaching God's Word or if I'm not even saved? People are becoming
ministers and these people aren't even born again.
Being a minister, isn't all fun and games. Being a minister, has responsibility
that comes along with it. God, accounts ministers more accountable for certain
things that He doesn't hold the normal person, so accountable for. For example,
if I'm teaching you to go steal, kill and destroy than I am in big trouble!
Also, if I'm not living right, then I'm held more accountable for that too. If
I'm teaching not to commit adultery and I go do it, then I'm not being the light
God, wants me to be. I'm not representing God, right if I do that. Being a
minister, is more than a title and that is what we need to learn. There are
people out there, who think they are always right just because they're a
minister. Well, let me tell you something, anyone and I mean anyone can become a
legal minister, but a true minister is lead by God! If you see me say something
or do something wrong, then I want you to tell me. I want to be corrected,
because if I'm not teaching right, I take that very seriously. I want to teach
accurate and please God. If that is not your goal and you're not lead by God,
then do not become a minister! It would be like if I tried to become a pro
basket ball player and I didn't have the ability to even shoot the ball into the
net. If you believe you have an ability and want to become a minister, you
should pray before taking the step and becoming one. Pray for guidance and if
you need prayer on this matter or on any matter, you may submit a request to us.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive all those who've wronged us.
Please bring us closer to you and guide our every step. I pray that you'll
direct the steps of those who want to become ministers and those who have
already became ministers and all your children. May we all bring you glory! In
Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
