It Is Better To Give, Than Receive!

Thursday's Devotion (3-4-04)

"The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth." Psalm 37:21 (KJV)

We as followers of Christ, are supposed to pay our debts. We are also supposed to show mercy and give to those who need. If someone is in desperate need of money or food, we aren't supposed to just loan it to them, but we need to give it to them. I mean what are you going to do? Walk up to a homeless man and say, "Here's some money, but I want it back with interest!" No! Because you know that, that homeless man, will never be able to pay you back and if he is ever able, you will not even know where he is at. We need to treat everyone like a needy homeless person, when it comes to giving. We need to give as if they will not be able to pay us back. If I loan you money and then afterwards I'm constantly breathing down your neck saying, "Do you have my money, yet?" then what kind of witness for the Lord, am I? We need to give and not worry about receiving. Every time we give something for nothing in the name of Jesus, we receive a greater gift in God's Kingdom. So, every time you have helped someone you have received a greater gift in God's Kingdom and those riches are waiting for you! Don't be greedy and don't worry about receiving. Like the saying goes, "It is better to give, than to receive!"

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged us. Help us to give and not to worry about receiving. Change our hearts and bring us closer to you. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
