Love Comes With Work, Not Words!

Tuesday's Devotion (3-2-04)

"He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse." Proverbs 28:27 (KJV)

The last couple of days, I've talked about the importance of love. Well I guess today, is no different. When we see someone in need and we don't give them what they need, then we aren't loving them. Love is the key to many doors. If you want blessings you must love. If you don't want to lack, you must love by giving. If we hide our eyes from the needy we will be cursed with: poverty and etc. The Lord, doesn't want us to be needy. The Lord, wants us to have things that we need. However, He has to sometimes give us lessons before He can trust us with riches and etc. Let's say that the Lord, gives you riches, without taking you through a hard time and showing you, that you need to give and you need to love. If He gives it to you, without teaching you this lesson, then you will be greedy and you will use your riches in wrong ways and not help those around you, who need it. I want to give, because I don't have that much and there are people out there with even less. We suffer because we have want, but imagine how much worse the suffering is for those who have so much less. Let's say that I don't have a coat, so I don't want to give anything else. So, what I don't have a coat, there is someone else out there who has no clothes at all! So, you have to wait a couple of days for your paycheck to get food, well at least you're getting a paycheck! Some starving people out there, have no paycheck to look forward to and they aren't going to get any food! We need love in our hearts to help these people and until we learn to love, we will not have anything! Let's look at what God, did. God, loved us so much that He gave His Son for our sins. If you love someone, you will sacrifice what you have for that person, if they need it. Like a mother who loves their child, will give her food to the young child, if the child drops his food and doesn't want it anymore or if he didn't get enough. I used to drop my food rarely and my mom would give me her food. There are people out there who are in need and we can help them and if we don't we will live in poverty ourselves! If we help them, we get all around blessings. If we love and help others by giving, we get to feel good about ourselves and we get rewarded by God! Love, isn't just a word. I say this all the time, "Love is an action!" Simply saying, "I love you!" to someone isn't going to convince them or God, of your love! Think about it, if you tell your spouse that you love them, but you don't do nice things for them or even care if they get dinner, are they going to believe that you love them? Not only are they going to think you're lying, but if you truly loved them, you would make an effort to care for their needs!" We need to love everyone and love comes with work, not words.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged us. Please help us to love and bring us closer to you. We know that the closer we are to you, the more we will love because you are love! In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
