We All Need Patience!

Saturday's Devotion (2-28-04)

"Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience." James 1:3 (KJV)

We go through trials or tough times, to test our faith. What we need to remember is that the trying of our faith works patience in us. Some people (like me) expect their trials to come one day and be gone the next. It doesn't work that way most of the time. In order for a trial to work patience, it has to remain with us for awhile. We have to patiently keep our faith. I have believed for a little bit to get through my trial and when the trial didn't end, I started doubting again. You have to believe, but you have to believe longer than 20 minutes or even 20 years or longer. Let's say you have an illness and you're praying for recovery. This would be considered a test of faith, because you're going to have to wait and be patient. You're going to have to believe for your recovery. Things are going to seemingly get worse and those are the tough parts of the trial, where you might start thinking, "God, isn't going to help me!" Job, was a man of God and was very sickly. He went through his trials for a very long time, before the Lord, finally restored his health and etc. There is no time limit on how long we will have to wait to find freedom from our trials. Trials work patience and patience is something we all need.

I have trouble believing for a good outcome after a long trial period, but that is something I need the patience for. I need more patience and if I don't get patience, I will be in for a very hard time in life.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for everything. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged us. Please bring us closer to you and give us the fruit of patience! In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
