Can You Walk On Water?

Wednesday's Devotion (2-25-04)

"If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But [there is] forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared." Psalm 130:3-4 (KJV)

These scriptures are scriptures to really think about. Some of us, often lose sight that we as followers sin too and that our sin is just as bad as anyone else's. If we see a murderer on television going to trial, we may think, "He'd deserve to be executed!" However, in the Lord's eyes we were all sentenced to death! We were all on death row and we all deserved it and we still do! However, God, sent His Son, to take the death sentence for us! We're all sinners, the only difference is that some of us, choose to be forgiven by accepting Jesus Christ! Don't judge another person, by their sin. Look at what you've done and know that all sin is the same in God's eyes! Sin is sin and if you lied or did some other sin, you're just as guilty as someone who committed murder! You're just as guilty, because you're a sinner too. So, instead of judging others, we should be doing some other things. We should first thank God, that His grace is sufficient for us, then we should try and be a good witness, so others can have the chance of forgiveness that we have. People often judge others by their past. If you're a recovering alcoholic, then someone might say, "Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic!" then that might tempt you to go get drunk! Maybe we do stuff like that, because we are insecure about our own sins. However, we need to realize that we are sinners and that we have no right to judge another for their sin. Someone told me once, that when they were judged for their sin, they'd tell the person judging them, "Can you walk on water?" He said that because no one is perfect, except Jesus Christ, who came and did walk on water because His faith was so great! It's actually a good question to ask yourself, if you're judging another person. Ask yourself, "Can I walk on water?" I'll admit that I often judge others. We need to pray for help to recover from being judgmental. If you call someone an alcoholic, they can easily call you a judgaholic. If you judge another person, you are actually making their progress harder and you're not doing good by doing that. The Lord, wants us to help one another. How can we help each other, if we are too busy judging each other? With that being said, are you a judgaholic? Are you addicted to judging other people? Remember judging others, is also a sin. So are you better than another person, because their sin makes you sin? Another person's sin, should not tempt us to sin by judging them.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, for your grace and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us. Please bring us closer to you and help us not to be judgmental. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
