Make Friends!
Tuesday's Devotion (2-24-04)
"A man that hath friends
must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a
brother." Proverbs 18:24 (KJV)
I used to have a problem, with making friends. Nobody liked me, at school and I didn't understand what I was doing wrong. I kind of isolated myself away from everyone and you can't make friends like that. If you want friends, you must show yourself friendly. How am I friendly, if I separate myself from everyone? To show yourself friendly, you have to step out and do good things for people. If you go to work and you're leaving to go home and you see a fellow employee, that can't get his car started, because the battery is dead, you can give him a jump or give him a ride home. Not only does it benefit you to be friendly, but it also shows the love of God, in you! We can all make friends, even if we only make a few.
You can make a friend that sticks closer than a brother and you already have that friend, if you've accepted Jesus Christ. He is a friend that will never leave you, regardless and you can't make a better friend than Jesus. If you don't have a friend in Jesus, then you are probably looking for a good friend. You're probably looking for someone who will be your friend regardless and someone who cares about you, the way you are! To find that friend, once again all you have to do is accept Jesus Christ, into your heart.
I don't think these scriptures are just talking about the Lord, when they say, "... and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother..." they could also be talking about a spouse or maybe even a friend that has been with you, for a long time. I have a great friend in my wife, but even though she is my friend there is one friendship that is even greater than our friendship. That friendship is the one that we have with the Lord. See, you can have a friend that isn't the Lord, but you won't be completely happy, if the Lord, isn't your friend too. Because Jesus, is a friend on the inside. I've had times, where I wasn't alone, but I was still lonely on the inside. Jesus, is the best friend you can make, because He can come into your heart and He can and will stick closer than a brother!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged us. Please bring us closer to you and help us to show the love of God. Help us, to be friendly and caring towards others. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
