Being Blessed, Doesn't Always Mean Being Happy!
Monday's Devotion (2-2-04)
"Blessed are ye that hunger
now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from
their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the
Son of man's sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your
reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the
prophets. But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now!
for ye shall mourn and weep. Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you!
for so did their fathers to the false prophets." Luke 6:21-26 (KJV)
We're blessed,
when we suffer for Christ's sake. We are blessed, because a day will come where
we go to be with Jesus and our suffering will be over for eternity. We suffer
here on earth for a short time, some for eighty years, some for 30, some for 60,
some for a 100 and so on. However, that is a short amount of suffering, if you
think about eternity. Eternity is everlasting. Would you rather suffer for 100
years on earth or would you rather suffer forever away from God? People who have
things on earth, will have nothing when they leave earth. If I have millions of
dollars, it won't do me any good when I'm suffering eternally, for my
selfishness. Also, we are blessed when we are persecuted for Christ's sake. I
used to get persecuted at my own home for Jesus. I'm talking about when I lived
with my mom and dad. My dad, never said anything about it, but when my mom
didn't have her way once she said, "I'm tired of you reading that Bible! It's
putting stuff in your head, I'm taking it and you won't read it again!" That was
a point, where I almost gave up on reading God's Word. However, I took a stand
and didn't let her keep my Bible away from me. People of the world, will always
do anything they can to take you away from Jesus. If you withstand and keep
following Jesus, you will be blessed! With what I said about living with my mom,
let's pray for people outside of the United States. Some of these people can't
even keep Bibles, Police raid their homes and brutally beat them and some die
just for keeping a Bible, in their home. Let's pray for their safety and for
their blessing.
Some people think they're preaching right, when they get praise from everyone.
Let me tell you, if you're teaching the Word, right you will be persecuted. No
one will want to hear it, except God's chosen. People are happy when you throw
false doctrine in their ears. Do you know why? Because people want to hear stuff
that comforts them, rather than the truth. People want to hear, "You can live a
sinful life and not have to suffer for it!" I don't teach that. I teach, "If you
mess up, you can repent and God, will forgive you, but if you continue in your
sin and do not repent and turn from your sins, you will suffer for it!" Some
people don't like hearing that, but that's too bad. I can't change the Word of
God. Also, don't be deceived. You won't always be persecuted for teaching the
Word, correctly. Times will come and go, at least they do for me. Sometimes
people will compliment me and sometimes people will say mean things. It's just
that some people know the truth and accept it and some people, don't.
Being blessed, doesn't always mean being happy!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message. Please forgive us of
all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us. We pray that you'd help
all those people being persecuted for your sake. Let them know, that they're the
truly blessed ones. Bring us closer to you, Lord. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
