The Dead In Christ, Shall Rise First!

Tuesday's Devotion (1-27-04)

"But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (KJV)

If you've lost a loved one, who has faithfully followed Jesus, don't be afraid for them. Don't be afraid for them, because even though they're dead, they will live with Jesus, forever! You can be assured that your loved ones who loved Jesus and are now dead, will live with Jesus and they will not suffer. If you've lost loved ones who followed Jesus, then at least you have assurance of where they'll go. I lost my dad, in March of last year and I don't have assurance of where he is at. I don't know if he ever accepted Jesus, before he died. I can assure myself of one thing though, "My God, is fair and my dad, had a chance."

Now, I want to talk about something that really pinches a nerve in me. I have heard about these teachings that teach, that the dead will not rise first. Read these scriptures they clearly say, "...the dead in Christ shall rise first..." This is what the scriptures teach about the coming of the Lord. When the Lord, comes the dead in Christ, will rise first! The people who teach against what I'm teaching here, refer to scriptures in the New Testament (scriptures taken out of context.) They refer to the scriptures about when Jesus, raised the dead on earth, when He was on earth. They then use those scriptures to say, "When Jesus, returns the dead will not rise first!" Be not deceived about this. There is no stopping the already dead from entering into God's Kingdom. There is no changing these scriptures. This is one reason why it's very important to know the Word (The Bible) and to know it well. I don't know I guess what really bothers me, is that the people who teach false doctrine are well respected and known in the ministry. It's very irresponsible. Do not treat the Word of God, lightly! Do not teach the Word out of context! There are serious penalties for teaching false doctrine. So, get grounded in the Word of God, so you're not deceived! If you know the Word of God, then it's not easy to be deceived. Many people that you see twisting the truth, you can easily reveal their lies by looking in the Bible. The secret to not being deceived is to be grounded in the truth!

The dead in Christ, shall rise first! These scriptures say it, enough said.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us. Comfort us, regarding our dead loved ones. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
