Are You Ready?
Thursday's Devotion (1-22-04)
"Knowing this first, that
there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And
saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep,
all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." 2 Peter
3:3-4 (KJV)
A scoffer, is
pretty much someone who makes a mockery. These scriptures tell us that scoffers
will come in the last days and walk after their own lusts. Guess what? We now
have scoffers. There are people who mock and say, "Where is Jesus? I thought He
was coming back!" There are also people who say, "God, died!" I've ran into a
couple of people who say that. Both people, that said that were and are into
Satan. I don't like mentioning this stuff, but it is my proof that we are in
fact living in the last days. Just talking about this gives me more warfare,
then I already have so please be in prayer for me.
So, now we have some kind of evidence from the scriptures and from experience,
that we are in the last days. What can we do about it? How can we be sure that
Jesus, is going to take us, when He comes? The scriptures tell us, to watch and
not to sleep. That doesn't mean not to ever close your eyes and sleep. What that
means is we need to always be ready. That means we shouldn't take a break from
our walks with the Lord. We shouldn't sleep by going back to our sinful ways.
Let me get the exact scriptures,
"Therefore let us not sleep, as
[do] others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the
night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 1 Thessalonians 5:6-7
(KJV)"
Are you ready for the return of Jesus? He may not be coming back tomorrow, but
if He did would you be ready? If you're not ready tonight or tomorrow, what
makes you think you'll be ready when He does come? Jesus, is going to come like
a thief in the night and no one will expect it. No one knows the day or the
hour, of His return. Again, I ask, "Are you ready?"
This is something that has been brought to the attention of my mother-in-law and
I didn't really think of it that much, but tonight I am. She was just reading
something about this yesterday and tonight, these are the scriptures I felt lead
to write about. So, maybe the Lord, is knocking on all of our doors.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message. Please cleanse us of
all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us. Show us your love, mercy,
glory and grace. Don't let us sleep and bring us closer to you, than ever
before. Don't let us, miss out on the day of your Son's return. Don't let us, be
left behind. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
