Pride, Is Making Us Miss Out On Good Things!
Wednesday's Devotion (1-21-04)
"Pride goeth before
destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18 (KJV)
These scriptures
are very true, just like the rest of the scriptures. Pride, can destroy lives,
friendships, families and much more. Pride, can also interfere with your walk
with the Lord. I heard one thing that was very true, in a revival book. It said
that if you're starting a revival and you start getting prideful, in the middle
of it, the revival will end. A revival, is where many people are starting to
come to the Lord. We can only start a revival, through the power of the Holy
Spirit! So, when we act prideful and start saying stuff like, "I must be great,
I'm saving many souls!" right there, we are putting an end to our movement. The
Lord, wants us to stay humble. He can't work through us, if we are full of pride
and not full of the Spirit of Christ. If you're full of pride, how can you be
used? A person full of pride, is like a broken coffee pot. What use is a broken
coffee pot?
If we listen to these scriptures and we make an effort and pray to be humble, we
will not have as much trouble in our lives. What good is pride? Does not a gang
member, kill a member of another gang out of pride? Does the male lion, not kill
another male lion out of pride? All pride does, is destroy. What separates
people in this world, from being united: White pride, black pride, Hispanic
pride and etc. Whatever kind of pride, you call it, it's still pride and it
still divides and conquers us, all. Martin Luther King, day recently ended and I
was thinking about it. This is one thing that I've thought about before too.
What I think is that Martin Luther King, still doesn't have his dream yet. The
races are still divided in many ways. When you hear about the voting polls you
hear, "The African Americans voted this" and the "Hispanics voted this" and on
and on and on. It's kind of sickening. Why can't we put aside our pride and be
united? Pride, is making us miss out on a lot of good things!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for everything.
Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us.
Please help us, put aside our pride and to be united as brothers in sisters, in
Jesus. In Jesus' name, we ask. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
message
board.
