Jesus, Will Not Leave You Comfortless!
Monday's Devotion (1-19-04)
"I will not leave you
comfortless: I will come to you." John 14:18 (KJV)
This scripture
says a lot. No matter what your situation is, no matter how much pain you're in,
the Lord, will not leave you comfortless. There is actually comfort in just
knowing this scripture. I go through a lot of horrible warfare and depression
and sometimes it does seem hopeless. Sometimes, I feel like it will never end. I
just thought about King David. He must've felt the same way sometimes. Look in
the book of Psalms and you'll see that in some of his writing, he was
comfortless and then in other parts of his writing, he is full of joy. There
will be times when we are comfortless, but the Lord, will not leave us in those
times forever. The Lord, will end the comfortless times and bring peace once
again. We go through tough times to try our faith and to strengthen us, but we
just need to keep in mind that Jesus, will not leave us comfortless. I remember
nights that I was so bad off on the inside with fear from the enemy. I'd be so
scared and then I'd feel the Lord's presence and I'd feel better. The Lord, will
never leave us comfortless, but He will let us be comfortless from time to time.
Many think and say, "If you're going through a hard time as a follower of the
Lord, you're not right!" Well that's not true and actually it's exactly the
opposite. If you are doing right with the Lord, you will also go through tough
times. Jesus, tells us that we must endure until the end to be saved. He didn't
say that for nothing. He said that because we will go through tough times and we
will suffer from time to time. He says that because the enemy is constantly
working on us, to get us to give up on following, Jesus. Have you ever seen a
wrestling match where one guy has the other one in what they call a submission
hold? If the guy in the hold can endure until the end of the hold, he can still
win the match, but if he gives up it's over. So, the guy in the hold will try to
make it to the ropes and if he can, the hold will have to be released. Well, we
are kind of like wrestlers and Jesus, is kind of like the ropes. If we can get
to Jesus, then we can be saved from the holds and traps of this world and the
enemy. Continue seeking Jesus and you will find comfort. The Lord, wants to give
you that comfort in due time and He will. He will not leave you comfortless!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message. Please forgive us of
all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged us. Please help us to trust in
you. Help us to patiently wait for you and to know that you will not leave us
comfortless. In Jesus, name. A-men.
God bless!
