Money Can't Buy Love!
Thursday's Devotion (1-15-04)
"Better is little with the
fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith. Better is a dinner
of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith." Proverbs
15:16-17 (KJV)
Sometimes, we can
be very unappreciative of what we have. If we're poor and all we have to eat is
rice, we should be appreciative of what we have, if we have a nice family, the
Lord and love. It's better to be financially bad off and to have a loving family
and the Lord, than to have great treasures and no love. Many people have it all,
but they don't have money and they aren't able to look past what they don't have
and be thankful for what they do have. If you're poor and don't have much, but
you have people who love you, then look past what you don't have and thank God,
for what you do have. I personally get upset when someone is upset and
unthankful about finances. I get upset because I'll think, "Well, isn't your
loved ones enough to be thankful about?" I grew up with a lot of arguing and
without hardly any money. Still don't have that much money, but I'm thankful
that I have the Lord and that I have people who love me. Don't give up love for
money. Love is worth more than all the money, in the world. What causes a person
to give away money? Love does. If love causes people to give, then love is
greater than the gift, given. Because the gift doesn't cause you to love, but
the love causes you to give the gift. So, be content with having love. It comes
easier for some of us, to be content with that than it does with others.
Sometimes, you just have to realize what you have. Take out whatever money you
have in your pocket and set it on a table or somewhere. Once you have it there,
look at your loved ones. Would you give up your loved ones for that money? I
would hope that you wouldn't even think twice about giving up the money, instead
of your loved ones. There are some people who would give up loved ones for money
and they aren't very happy people. Money can't buy love and if you don't have
love, you don't have happiness.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message. Please forgive us of
all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us. Help us to be content with
your love and with the love of others and not live a sad life searching for
money. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
