Do You Know The Damage You Might Cause?
Monday's Devotion (1-12-04)
"Let us not therefore judge
one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or
an occasion to fall in his brother's way." Romans 14:13 (KJV)
When we judge
others, we are putting a stumbling block in someone's way. We can make someone
fall by being so harsh with our judgment or be judging them at all. If we start
to judge another person, we need to look at ourselves and know that we aren't
supposed to judge others. If you're a murderer and I judge you, I'm not doing
any better than you. Because if I judge you, I'm sinning just like you sin, when
you murder. Of course a murderer has to be trialed and judged to go to prison,
but that's not my place to judge them. If their a murderer and I say, "That
person is horrible!" That's not place to say. It is Jesus' job to judge. I can
be judgmental like that too. If I watch on television and see what horrible
thing someone has done, I can get judgmental. If we're too busy judging, how can
we make a difference? How can we save a soul, if we are judging someone? How can
you save the same soul, that you condemn. You have to have the love of God, in
you to save someone else. You have to be humble and know that you're a sinner to
save another sinner. If someone is a thief, you can judge them or you can save
their soul and change their life style, by being an example. If I was a thief
and someone judged me harshly, I'd probably just go steal from them because they
made me mad. However, if someone was nice to me, after all the wrongs I did, I
would want to change probably. We are responsible for turning someone away from
the Lord. I've heard of people, that were judged so harshly that they back slid,
away from the Lord. Ask yourself, "Do I know what damage my judgment causes?"
That's kind of a powerful question. Think about that and judge not. I admit that
I need to get control and not be judgmental too. It takes work and prayer. It's
sometimes hard not to judge someone.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message. Please forgive us of
all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us. Help us not to be
judgmental against others. Help us to always know that we are sinners, saved by
grace and not by our own works. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
