Don't Let The Wolves Eat You For Dinner!
Sunday's Devotion (1-11-04)
"Behold, I send you forth
as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless
as doves." Matthew 10:16 (KJV)
We are like sheep,
in the midst of wolves. My opinion on that part is that we are prey for the
wolves. They seek us for a meal. They can devour us in many ways: deceitfulness,
violence, persecution and etc. We are supposed to be wise like serpents, so we
don't get deceived. To be wise like a serpent, we need knowledge of God's Word.
If we're knowledgeable in God's Word, we can not be deceived. So, that would be
one less way of being a wolf's prey. You can continue not knowing God's Word and
you can get tossed around with every false doctrine of man or you can know the
truth and inherit God's Kingdom. That's your choice.
Also these scriptures tell us, to be harmless like a dove. If we let man tempt
us to violence or if we are deceitful to others, we are like a sheep, who just
got a bite taken out of him by a wolf. Once the wolf, gets his bite on the
sheep, the sheep is as good as dead. We can resist the wolves, by not letting
them tempt us to violence. If they hit us, we can just hit them with love and
not with violence in return. Because if a sheep tries to fight a wolf, can the
sheep win? No, they can't. Maybe you can beat up your enemy, but they're still
winning over you, if you decide to reward their evil with evil. If I hit someone
who is mean to me, even if I seemingly win the fight, they have a spiritual
victory over me. They have a spiritual victory over me, because they caused me
to sin and I'll regret that later.
We also need good fellowship. We need to stick together and share our knowledge
with the other sheep. Because if one sheep wonders off from the flock of sheep,
they become an easy target for the wolves. One sheep in a world of 100 wolves,
can not win. We need each other to build each other up. If you're a follower and
you're doing great, but have no one to uplift you, then you're going to get
discouraged. If you get discouraged, you could give up on your walk.
Don't let the wolves, eat you for dinner!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message. Please forgive us of
all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us. Please help us, to be as
wise as the serpent and as harmless as the dove. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
