Be Faithful Even To Death!
Friday's Devotion (1-9-04)
"Faithful are the wounds of
a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." Proverbs 27:6 (KJV)
These scriptures
make me think of what happened in the new testament. Before Jesus, was delivered
up to the cross for our sins, one of his people betrayed him with a kiss. Judas,
plotted it out he said something like, "The one that I kiss is the one to
capture." those probably aren't the words he used at all, but it was something
along those lines. Anyway, Judas with the officers walked up to Jesus and kiss
him on the cheek. It was that deceitful kiss, that lead to the death of Jesus,
on the cross.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend. Jesus, is our friend and His wounds are
faithful. He was delivered up on the cross, for our sins and he was abused
badly. Jesus, could've said, "No way, am I dying on a cross, for these people!"
Jesus, didn't say that, but He stuck it out and took the abuse and mockery.
Jesus, took it all and He did it for us. The wounds that He suffered, still
abide faithful today. The scriptures say something like, "By my stripes ye are
healed!" by the stripes that He got on his back from a whip, we are healed. We
are healed by his faithful wounds. His wounds are faithful, because He obtained
them by being faithful to us and to His Father, God.
I don't know what exactly the point of this devotion is. Maybe the point is we
need to remember Jesus' faithfulness and not turn our back on Him. Maybe the
point is we shouldn't be like Judas and deceive others. Maybe the point is just
for us to remain faithful to Jesus and to others. We are supposed to live like
Jesus, lived so that means we are supposed to be faithful even to death.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message. Please forgive us of
all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us. Bring us closer to you and
help us, to remain faithful to you and to others. Help us, to never be
deceitful. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
