Have A Giving Heart!

Tuesday's Devotion (1-6-04)

"And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called [unto him] his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all [they] did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, [even] all her living." Mark 12:41-44 (KJV)

We can learn a lot off of the poor widow, in these scriptures. Other people, who had money just threw in money, because they felt they had to. They just gave a little out of their big abundance. The poor woman, threw in the least amount of money, but she gave more than all of the others. How could that be? Because her heart was in the right place and because she gave all that she had. Giving is supposed to be a gift from the heart. If I give you all that I have, it's not because I have to, but it's because I want to and it's sincerely a gift from my heart. This is the kinds of gifts, God, wants us to give. He wants us to give from our hearts. If I have thirty million dollars and I give 10% tithes, that would be three million dollars. If I gave three million out of thirty million, what heart would I be showing? I don't need twenty seven million dollars, to live with. If I only gave 10% that would be because I felt obligated, but if I gave let's say twenty nine million, that would be from the heart! People, have an over abundance of money, that they don't need. However, there are many poor people who need that money. So, if you put things together and think about it, if the rich gave more they could have money to live with and they could take the homeless population down greatly. Someone is without, basically because someone else has too much! Do you have too much? We need to be like the poor widow, in these scriptures. If we were like her, we could save souls and lives. We could be a great bright light, if we were like that poor woman. We would have so much more treasure in Heaven, if we lived like that woman's example. I hope today's devotion, touches your heart to give! Have a giving heart!
