Do You Want To Give The Enemy Victory Over You?

Sunday's Devotion (1-4-04)

"He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated." Proverbs 14:17 (KJV)

We can deal very foolishly with other people sometimes, when we act out of anger. If someone says something mean about you, if you act out of anger, you could easily punch them in the nose. If you punch someone in the nose out of anger or not out of anger, you aren't being a very great witness for the Lord. With us being followers of Christ and even if we weren't we need to know that our sins against man, aren't just against man, but against God. All sin is against God and when we hate others and act out of anger, we are sinning against God! We're sinning against Him, even more if we are followers because we are representing God. The life that we live, is the life that we represent God, with. How are you representing God? I don't do very well, a lot of the times myself, but I try. When I see that I'm acting out of anger, I try to hold back and not say or do anything.

We have to realize when we are doing something out of anger and say, "I'm not going to rush in and handle this with anger!" When we're mad, we need to calm ourselves and try to get a grip. When I was in school, I had one bully who messed with me a lot. I didn't have courage to stand up to him, but I'd get so mad sometime, that I'd go for walks and look for a fight with him, because he lived in my trailer park. The times, that I'd do that, he wouldn't be outside and nothing would happen. I shouldn't of even walked around looking for trouble, like that. I should've calmed down and went and tried to talk it out, I guess. When we get angry and deal with people out of angry, the enemy and our enemies are only getting victory over us. What would've happened if I would've beat that guy up or started something with him and got beat up myself. If he would've beat me up, he would've had the best of me and if I would've beat him up, he would've called the cops and still got the best of me. The enemy would've had victory, through anger. Do you want to give the enemy victory over you?

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message. Please forgive us of all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us. Please bring us all closer to you and help us, to handle our problems with love and not with anger. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
