Display The Peace & Love Of God!
Saturday's Devotion (1-3-04)
"Recompense to no man evil
for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as
much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." Romans 12:17-18 (KJV)
I often lose sight
of how I should be. When someone does something mean, I'll sometimes do
something mean back to them. However, I'm getting better in this area. We as the
children of God, are supposed to live peaceably with everyone, to the best of
our abilities. The scriptures tell us that those who are peace makers, will be
called the children of God. So, if we are going to be children of God, we need
to be peace makers. God, wants us to live a life without stress, but if we want
a life without stress, we must live peaceably with other people. If you worked
at your job for let's say 20 years and I came in as a new employee and said,
"You're not doing your job right, you stink at this!" What would I be doing,
except causing trouble? You would probably say something to a boss about me and
I'd get fired and that would bring me more stress. We have the power within us
to live peacefully or to live stressfully.
Also, when we as followers of Christ, don't make peace, we are automatically
persecuted for it. For example, someone will say, "You're not a very great
follower, causing trouble all the time!" That is also being a bad witness and
when we are bad witnesses, we will turn others away from the Lord. We are held
responsible for turning someone away from the faith.
I hear one thing that is very true, but it shouldn't be. Many wars and murders
are caused because of religion and this shouldn't be. We as followers of Christ,
should be able to live a life of peace and we shouldn't be fighting with other
people. There will be times, when we do fight with other people, but we need to
make most of our life a peaceful one. We need to show people that we are people
of peace and love. We need to display the love and peace of God. Are you
displaying that? I don't think I always do and I'll admit it.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message. Please forgive us of
all our sins and we forgive those who've wronged, us. Please put the peace and
love of God, in our hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit. Bring us close
to you and when people see us and talk to us, may they know by our fruits that
we are the children of God. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
Hope you enjoyed. Please post your thoughts on this topic, on the
