God, Is Fair!
Wednesday's Devotion (7-30-03)
"And he said unto me, Son
of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath
rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even
unto this very day. For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send
thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD. And they,
whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious
house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them. And thou, son
of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers
and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of
their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.
And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they
will forbear: for they are most rebellious. But thou, son of man, hear what I
say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy
mouth, and eat that I give thee." Ezekiel 2:3-8 (KJV)
These scriptures
show us just a little of how great God's love, is. God, sent a prophet to people
who were against Him, so they would have a chance to change. God, didn't want to
destroy these people, but if they continued in rebellion, He would have no
choice. He sent the prophet, so that they may have a chance to repent and follow
Him. Whether or not they listened to His Words, they heard His Words and they
had a chance. He reached out His hand and all they had to do, is take it.
Sometimes, we lose sight of this: God, truly does give everyone a chance. When
we have a relative or friend that dies, we may worry since they weren't
following the Lord. However, who is to say they didn't have the chance? They
either take the chance or they don't. Some people, take it on their death beds
and others are still too stubborn. I don't believe one person's life passes by,
without them having a chance to follow Jesus and be saved. Think about this if
you've lost someone and didn't know if they got the chance. I have to think
about it all the time, with my dad who I lost, in March. Losses are hard, but I
believe our God, is faithful and just to give all a chance and it's up to them,
from there. My brother definitely had the chance before he died. He had dreams
of his own funeral, so he wisened up and followed the Lord. However, I'll never
know if my dad took that route or if he was too stubborn. If you're not saved,
you could go at anytime and I hope you don't leave your family in doubt, like my
dad did me.
These scriptures go on to say, "And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them,
neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and
thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed
at their looks, though they be a rebellious house." These scriptures show us,
not to resist the rebellious people, but to be fearless. Some Christians, will
resist non-followers and that turns the non-followers away from the Lord, even
more. We can not show fear, to the people of the world! God, has not given us a
spirit of fear, but one of love and a sound mind.
The scriptures then say, "But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be
not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I
give thee." Meaning, even though you must not fear that crowd of people and run
from them, you must not give into their ways! We sometimes begin to act like
people we hang around with, but we must not allow this and we must not turn to
their ways. We must keep our minds made that we will follow Jesus! Let's take
the time right now, to thank God, for being fair!
Dear Lord, we come to you with thanksgiving and we just thank you, for being
fair! We thank you, for giving all a chance. We ask that you'd forgive us of all
our sins and we forgive those who've wronged us. We ask that you'd make our
minds dead set on following you, where none can sway us. Thank you! In Jesus,
name. A-men!
