Put Your Faith, To Work!

Wednesday's Devotion (7-23-03)

"For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works." James 2:13-18 (KJV)

This goes with my other devotion, "Faith, Is An Action!" First off we need to be merciful to others. If we see someone who needs food or clothing, to be merciful to them would be to give them what they need. If you were hungry and I told you, "Be filled!" without giving you food, where would the mercy come in? That would be more like mocking a hungry man. That's not being merciful. If you want God, to judge you with mercy, you must show others mercy. If you don't show others mercy, He will show you none, in judgment day! That means, you go to Hell forever! Eternal Hell fire! However, when you're merciful, God, is merciful to you and He'll let you enter into His Kingdom!

Let's talk about how faith is an action. Let's say you say, "I have faith in God!" Then you see a starving person on the street, but say, "I can't help them, I would have no food for myself!" Well, that shows that you don't really have living faith. You don't use your faith, therefore your faith is dead! You can't be saved by faith alone, because faith without works is dead. Also, works without faith is dead. These two things go together hand and hand. If you don't have them both, you're in poor shape. You have to put your faith, into action with works. Let's say you're moving and I come to your house, in the middle of it and just stand there. I don't help and I'm as dead as a door nail. What good would I be, to you? None! Our faith is the same way, if it sits there dead, it's worthless! It profits us nothing! Put your faith, to work!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you and ask for forgiveness of all our sins. We also, forgive those who've wronged us. We ask that you'd help us make our faith alive, with works. Help us to have both faith and works. I don't know what kind of work you want me to do, but whatever you put in front of me, I will do! Thank you, Lord! In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
