Importance Of Correction!
Thursday's Devotion (7-17-03)
"The rod and reproof give
wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame." Proverbs
29:15 (KJV)
A child needs to
be corrected or even punished at times. However, when the parents don't do their
job, in this area, their child is going to be hard to control and out of
control. They're going to drive their parents, to an early grave and they're
going to be a disgrace to the family. When that all happens, the parents say, "I
wonder what went wrong with our child." What went wrong is they didn't correct
their child and they didn't punish them, when needed. How can we have wisdom, if
we're not corrected and what will make us do right, if there's no punishment for
doing wrong? Let's say I went through life stealing stuff from other children.
If my parents never correct me, how will I know it's not right? If I don't get
punished, what will stop me from doing it? This message, is important there are
so many neglected children out there. I remember one time, a child was walking
toward our moving car, he could've gotten hit, but he kept coming. His parents
were right behind him, but they didn't say anything or do anything. People,
really need to take the time for their children. Also, if people don't take the
time for their children, imagine how much more evil, this world will be in the
next generation or the one after that. This message, can't be ignored. People
need to make a lasting impact with their children. Because your child will one
day have a child and their child, will have one and the cycle will continue.
You can also, look at this scripture in another way. God, corrects us, because
He loves us. However what would happen if God, didn't correct us? What would
happen if God, didn't have a punishment set for the evil doers? Well, I can tell
you, what would happen. We would all continue in our evil ways and we wouldn't
even have a relationship with God. We would bring our Father, to shame. We're
all children to God and when He corrects us, we should take our correction and
be happy about it. We should teach our children, what God, has taught us. We
need to live like God, wants us to, that way your children can see and other
people in general can see. We need to be happy, that God, loves us enough to
correct us.
God bless!
