The Name Of The Lord!

Thursday's Devotion (6-19-03)

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." Proverbs 18:10 (KJV)

Sometimes when we have a problem, we forget how strong the name of the Lord, is. We try to solve our own problems and we find that we just can't do it! My brother-in-law, has a pet rat. Anyway, the rat wanted freedom from his cage and the rat thought, he had everything under control. Until my brother-in-law let him loose. The rat went out into the world for a few days and finally figured out, that he couldn't make it on his own. He needed his masters, so he came home. My point is this: We're like the rat sometimes, we think we can handle our own problem, 'til we get frustrated and return to our master, (Jesus Christ) for help. The rat had no safety, out in the world and he saw, that he couldn't make it. Sometimes we have to go realize, how tough things are before we realize we need our master. We need Jesus, because we're much too small to handle our predators, just like the rat! There were cats and dogs or other animals out there, waiting to destroy that rat. The rat was just too small to protect himself. We're the same way, we're too small to protect ourselves, from the roaring lion, named Satan! He's a lion and we're just a little rat and he's looking to devour us! But I've got good news, all we have to do is call out to our master. All we have to do is say, "Jesus, that lion is trying to eat me!" Then the Lord, will stretch forth His hand and rescue us from the lion! My point is, as long as we try to solve our own problems, we're going to be in a bad situation. However, when we call on the name of the Lord, we will be safe! So whatever the problem, call on the name of the Lord! There is power in the name of Jesus! Are you as smart as the rat, to return to your master or are you going to get eaten by a nasty predator?
