The Best Work!

Tuesday's Devotion (6-17-03)

"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." 2 Corinthians 5:8-10 (KJV)

When we die, whether our deeds are good or evil, we will be present with the Lord. However, if our deeds are bad, our presence with the Lord, won't be good. He will judge us and cast us away, into Hell, forever! If our deeds are good, we get to stay with Him, in everlasting joy. But let me explain something here. The best good deed, anyone can do is to accept Christ. If you know someone that died and they were rotten all their lives, but before they died they accepted Christ, that's the only good deed they need! The work we're called to as Christians, is to simply believe in and follow Jesus. Once you do that whole heartedly, all the other good deeds will follow. I remember I used to scam for money. It wasn't big time scamming, I'd call companies and complain about their products and they'd refund me and I'd get to keep the product. I'm not giving any ideas, I'm just mentioning this for the point I'm about to get to. One time I did this and I had accepted Christ. However, time the checks came in the mail, the Lord, had changed me so dramatically I ripped the checks up. I'll tell you, I felt really good ripping those checks! I'd do that again, it was fun and made me feel good about myself. I had felt so bad and was saying, "The Lord, is disappointed with me!" But He forgave me and I ended up doing the right thing. My point is, without Christ, I wouldn't have done that. So the best work you can do or I can do, is to accept Jesus, into your heart. Sometimes we feel as if our works aren't good enough. Guess what? Our works aren't good enough, the only work that was good enough, was accepting Jesus and He did the rest! If you're looking for a change, the best way to get it is through prayer. Jesus, will change you and when He does, you'll know it! Accept Jesus and do good, so that when you die, you can have everlasting joy and peace! You're not going to get into Heaven, by knocking on a million doors in your life. The only way is through faith in Jesus Christ. I'm not knocking works, but I'm just saying accepting Christ, is our best work.
