Talk Is Cheap!

Monday's Devotion (6-9-03)

"And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped [them] with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little." Luke 7:44-47 (KJV)

We can learn a few things from the woman, in these scriptures. She had great love, that we all need to have. Maybe we should seek the love, this woman had. She made due with what she had, she washed Jesus' feet with tears. Then she wiped them off with the hair of her head. How many of us would do this for another person? I don't think I could to be honest. She went completely out of her way, to do these things for Jesus. You might be saying, "Well if it were Jesus, I'd do it too! I won't do it for anyone else!" If that's close to what you said, you need to think that over. Because what you do for others, is what you're doing for Jesus! Not only that, but what you don't do for others, is what you're not doing for Jesus! This woman didn't stop kissing Jesus' feet and she anointed His feet with ointment. Notice she didn't quite give Him what He wanted, but she made due. He wanted water for His feet and She gave Him tears. My point is this, when someone needs something that you don't have, give them something that will due. If someone is cold and you don't have a coat, give them a sweat shirt or ETC. If someone needs a drink of water and your water's off, give them, soda, juice or whatever you do have. If someone needs money for food and you don't have it, give them some food. The more you love the more forgiveness, you have. The less you love, the less you're forgiven. God, loves us, but He wants us to love others the way He loves us. To truly have the love of God, you have to give love to others. When you display the love of God, by helping others you're being a light and you could save a life and a soul. Imagine what this world would be like, if everyone had the amount of love this woman did. Some people might say, "Well, I don't have to give beggars anything to show love! All I have to do is say kind words to them!" That's a lie, you must love in deed and in truth, not just with your mouth. You can't just say, "I can't give you a coat! God, bless you though!" If a man is freezing and you send him away with just a, "God bless you!" You're not loving them! You're loving them if you give them something to cover up with or let them stay with you. Did you ever hear the saying, "Talk is cheap!" Well, it is! If you say you love others, then show it! I used to play poker with my dad and I'd tell him, "I'm going to beat you!" Then he'd say, "Talk is cheap, shut up and prove it!" Then sometimes I would lose. My point is this, we can't open our mouths until we've done the job! I shouldn't of said, "I'm going to beat you!" I should've waited 'til I won and said, "I beat you!" Love is the same way, we can't go around saying, "I love you!" Then not proving it. We need to show the love first. We need to prove our love, before we open our mouths.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive us for our lack of love. Forgive us for all of our sins and we forgive those, who have done us wrong. Please help us to have the love of God. Help us to display your love to others. In Jesus' name. A-men!

God bless!
