"For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." Romans 8:6-7 (KJV)

We need to be spiritually minded, to be subject to the law of God. If we're not spiritually minded, we will not enter into God's Kingdom. When we first become Christians, we might think it's ok to listen to secular music, watch horror flicks, violence and ETC, but that's our carnal mind. Those things aren't of God. Those things are carnal and they reap death! However as we begin to mature and blossom as Christians, we begin to see those things are wrong. Some people never do get that mature in the Lord and they continue in these carnal activities. These people are carnal minded, but those who see the truth and want to please God and not their own flesh are spiritually minded. The spiritually minded will reap life and the carnal minded, death. I used to think, it was ok to listen to classic rock and watch wrestling, when I first converted. Then I first noticed that I needed to give up secular music and over a year later, I felt I needed to give up watching wrestling. I felt God, called me to give up watching wrestling, he didn't want my mind subjected to that. Since I gave it up, I've grown even more in the Lord. If you feel you're carnal minded my advice is this, get in the Word of God, daily and pray about it. Also, you need to pray before you read the bible, pray for understanding to understand His Word. Once you get into reading God's Word daily, you will slowly, but surely change into the creature God, wants you to be. You will become more spiritually minded and not carnally minded. The Word of God, can shape you and mold you. Also start listening to Christian music, instead of secular. There are plenty of great Christian bands out now. Some of my favorite Christian bands are: Third Day, Randy Travis, Rich Mullins, Keith Green and some others. You may prefer different kinds of music, but the Christian world has all different kinds of music to offer! You don't have to subject yourselves to carnal things! Don't worry about changing yourself, get in the Word daily, pray daily for a change and God, will change you! Once you become spiritually minded, you'll see how God, sees the things you do now. Those carnal things will not be enjoyable for you anymore, in fact they'll sadden you. If you watched horror movies, you'll say to yourself, "I used to watch this? This is horrible!" You'll finally be able to see how sad those things make God! Don't worry, you won't get bored, because the things of God, will become the things you love and enjoy.

Prayer: Dear Father in Heaven, we come to you and ask for forgiveness. Forgive us for having carnal minds and change us, Lord. Help us to be spiritually minded. Help us to please you and not our flesh. In Jesus, name. A-men!
