Trust God, Not Man!

Monday's Devotion (6-2-03)

"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man." Psalm 118:8 (KJV)

Too many of us trust man's opinions or ways over God's. If we trust Man more than God, we're going to get let down every time. Man, is not perfect, but God is! We might trust a person because they've been in ministry, for years, but that's no reason to trust them. That doesn't mean they're right on everything. You need to go directly to God's Word, yourself or directly to God, in prayer. I'm not perfect, I'm far from it and anything I write on this site I could be wrong on. Also there are situations where someone says, "You'll have to lie to get what you want!" Maybe they think you have to lie to convince someone to sell you a car, give you a job or ETC. God, wouldn't want you to lie and if you lied, you'd be trusting that person over God. If you abide by God's Word and trust Him, you'll be blessed! That's one thing I can guarantee you, is if you listen to God, it'll work out! It's like with Adam and Eve, the serpent said, "If you eat of the tree of knowledge, you won't surely die!" She trusted that serpent over what God, told her to do. Now, everything is imperfect, because she didn't listen to God! No matter what the situation, we need to be in prayer and trust God, for it! Man or anything else, will only let us down. People trust famous Christians and say things like, "They can't be wrong they've been in ministry for so many years!" They think experience makes them, "Spiritual giants" Even these so called, "Spiritual giants" can be wrong. That's why it's important to go to God and not man. I don't believe anyone on this earth is a spiritual giant. We can all be wrong and we all sin. No matter how close someone else is to God, they won't be right about everything. God, is right on everything, so we need to go to Him first. I'm not knocking anyone's teachings, I'm just telling the truth. I can't tell you enough, how important, it is to go to God's Word, yourself. If you go through life just listening to man's teaching and not reading the Bible, you're in trouble. You're in trouble because your teachers could be wrong. You could be going through life, doing the wrong things and when you die, who will answer for it? You will! God, speaks to us through His Word. It's our spiritual food and without it, we'll starve to death spiritually! But with it we will continue to grow like well nourished children!
