Sundays Aren't Cuttin' It!

Sunday's Devotion (6-1-03)

"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:23-24 (KJV)

My understanding of this is God, looks for true worshippers, who don't worship in the flesh. He wants people who worship in the spirit and in truth. In other words, going to church on Sundays and doing your little routines won't save you. You have to be really into it, you have to be so into it, that you live the life and look to please God. You can't please God, in your flesh. If you're a person who just does routines and goes to bed every night saying, "Now, I lay me down to sleep, if I die, before I wake, I pray the Lord, my soul to take. Blah blah blah!" That isn't going to cut it, that's your flesh worshipping. You're under the law of your flesh if you do that, because you think that will save you. That won't, but if you truly seek and worship God, that will save you. If you follow Him all the time and keep His commandments. You have to truly love God and not just do these little routines. If you go to church on Sundays, then leave and go live in the flesh again, you're wasting your time! People have this false hope that if they go to church on Sundays, they are saved. That's not true, that's just their routine, they aren't doing it because they love God. If you want to be saved you have to be more serious, than just going to church on Sundays. To truly worship someone, you have to love them and Jesus says, "If you're my friend, you'll do my commandments." He doesn't command us to do these little routines, He commands us to give our whole being to Him. To give our whole being to Him, we must live for Him, everyday of the week. God, wants more than Sundays. Even if you went to church everyday that's not good enough. It's not about that, it's about loving God and following Him whole heartedly. It's about a personal relationship with God. Only you, can start a personal relationship with God, no one else can do it for you. We all have a need for God, everyday. Think about this, would you like it if the only time someone talked to you was on Sundays? I'd be pretty lonely the rest of the week myself. God, made us to have fellowship with Him, everyday. If you don't want to spend time with God, now why would you want to spend eternity with Him? Why would He want to spend eternity with you? If you don't spend time with Him everyday, he'll say, "I knew you not! Depart from me, into everlasting punishment!" They don't tell you at church that Sunday, isn't good enough, do they? Even if you come here everyday, but don't spend personal time with God, that's not good enough. You can read all the Bible studies, in the world and that won't get you in Heaven. Truly loving, seeking and following God, will. Believing and trusting Jesus Christ, for your salvation will get you in. You also need to spend time in His Word, daily. He talks to us through His Word. The Word of God, is alive and active. His Word is the Bible and if you neglect the Bible, you're neglecting God. Why do I say that? Because in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word, was God!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us get out of routines and works of the flesh. Help us to worship you in spirit and in truth. Help us to follow you everyday and not just Sundays. Thank you, for hearing this prayer Father. In Jesus, name. A-men!

God bless!
