Show Me A Sign!

Sunday's Devotion (5-25-03)

"For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for [it]." Romans 8:24-25 (KJV)

Having hope is having faith. If you can see something, how can you hope for it? What's there to hope for when you're looking at what you're hoping for? Sometimes as humans, we look for signs and miracles instead of just believing and trusting God. We want to see something, to give us hope. But true hope comes from believing without seeing. We hope for the coming of Jesus Christ, but if He were here on earth now, what could we hope for? He'd already be here and we wouldn't need to hope for Him. We are saved by faith. If we went around and God, gave us a million signs and everything was just great. We don't have to have faith, because God, is just there like anyone else. He wouldn't be able to separate His faithful servants from the unfaithful. We go through times where we just have to trust God with our lives. Some people choose not to trust God and to curse Him. Those are the unfaithful and others trust God, all the way through. Those are the faithful and they get rewarded for it. We need to trust God and with patience wait for Him, to deliver us from our trials. If we didn't have to trust God, He would just be there and we wouldn't appreciate it. We would just say, "God, handle this situation." Then He would handle it and we wouldn't appreciate it. But when we trust God, we trust Him, to bring us through our problems. It takes time for the deliverance sometimes and when we get it, we appreciate it. We look for too many signs and don't just trust. It gets ridiculous, how we look for signs. We'll say things like, "God, if you'll just blow one leaf off that tree, I'll know you're there!" Maybe we should stop asking for signs and give Him a sign. Give Him a sign that says, "We trust you, God!" Do you hope for something you see or for something you don't? Do you want signs, instead of just trusting God? If so, just stop asking for signs and start trusting God, then you'll get a sign! Stop saying, "Show me a sign!"

God bless!
