Give It Your All!
Thursday's Devotion (5-22-03)
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ." Colossians 3:23-24 (KJV)
Whatever you do in life, whether it be a job, helping the needy, ministry or whatever, you need to give it your all. You need to give it your all as if you're working for the Lord. Some of us say things like, "Well, it's just man I'm working for and he'll be happy with a job half done." That's not the way to think, we need to give it our all and work as if is for the Lord and not man. The way you perform your work or anything for that matter shows what kind of person, you are too. Are you a half done person, who does half of the job? We're supposed to be a light for the world, but we don't look like a light when we do bad jobs. People won't see a difference in us, they'll say, "Well, I could've done that! That's horrible!" What kind of light do we represent, a burnt out light or a bright light? You know what I mean by burnt out, you do part of the job and say, "I'm tired and don't feel like finishing!" Are you a light that stays bright, through the night or do you blow out half way through the night? When you go to most places, there are some workers who are just burnt out. They act like they want to do nothing and they treat customers like trash. It doesn't look like anybody gives it their all anymore. If you want to stand out and be a light, you have to give it your all. You have to go out of your way to help others. Before you go to work tell yourself, "I'm going to give it my all! I'm going to be nice to people too!" Make people remember you in a good way, when they go home! If you can't perform good at the job you're at, maybe you should look for a different field. If you can't do your job, go do a different one, there are people who can do your job. If you're anything like me, you get tired of seeing burnt out employees. They're the rudest people too. There are a few workers who give it their all and be nice and you know what? I remember those nice employees when I go home. I remember the rude ones too, but not in a nice way.
God bless!
