We All Need Jesus!

Sunday's Devotion (5-18-03)

"And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Matthew 9:11-13 (KJV)

The Pharisees thought they were so great and righteous. They couldn't understand why Jesus, would hang around the sinners. Jesus, explains it rather simple, if we're not sick, we don't need a doctor, but if we're sick we need a doctor. Let's say, Jesus, is a doctor who heals our sins and we're sick with sin and if we say we have no sin we have no need of Dr. Jesus. Some of you might think, "How come Jesus, says, 'I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance?' Aren't we all sinners?" My guess is this, Jesus, was talking about the self righteous. Those who believe they have no sin and if they believe they have no sin, they're blinded and don't believe they need Jesus. If you think you don't sin, you might as well just say, "I don't need Jesus!" We're all sinners and we all need Jesus. If one of you think you're perfect let me ask you this, can you walk on water? Would you die on a cross for the sins of the world? I sin, you sin and we all sin! There is no exception to the rule of sin. The only way we can be righteous is through the blood of Jesus. Through His forgiveness and not anything we do. There are people who put themselves above others. These people call themselves Christians. I'm not talking about all Christians just some. These Christians don't acknowledge their own sin, but everyone else's. If you sin in front of these people they will condemn you for it. They act like they have no sin. These are the self righteous. They may not sin in front of you, but just like us they sin. They do it in their minds or behind closed doors. None the less God, sees their sin. We need to stop making other Christians, feel condemned for their sin. Who are we to judge? Are we going to be hypocrites like the Pharisees? They talk against sinners, but are sinners themselves. They do what they tell others not to do. Don't get me wrong I'm not judging anyone, Jesus, said Himself that the Pharisees are hypocrites. We need to ask ourselves if we're making others feel condemned because that's not our place. It is He who sits on the right hand of God, that condemns. It's Jesus Christ, that makes judgment. God, gave Jesus, the authority to condemn and to judge, not us.
