The Importance Of Speaking Truth!
Thursday's Devotion (5-15-03)
"A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies." Proverbs 14:5 (KJV)
Sometimes people go around and act like something they're not. They do this to look spiritual and look like they're right with God. They will utter lies and act like as if they've never done anything wrong. These are false witnesses or wolves in sheep's clothing. They act as if what they say is truthful, but they're being deceptive. If I told you that I never told a lie, I'd be lying. Probably someone out there would believe me and feel condemned because they just told a lie. There are too many people, who act spiritual and perfect and it makes the rest of us feel bad. This is why it's important to tell the truth to each other. Someone could be going through a problem, that one of us could've went through before. Now, would it be right to tell that person, "I never had that problem!"? No, it wouldn't, if you had, had that problem. One thing, Satan, uses against God's people is pride and lies. Some Christians are too proud to admit that they went through something bad because it might make them look less spiritual. Satan, uses these kind of people to make others with the same problems feel condemned. We shouldn't lie about anything, but to tell you the truth I still lie sometimes. I catch myself lying and I don't feel good about it, but this is a problem we need to fix. If we we're more honest with each other a lot of other Christians, wouldn't feel so condemned. We all have problems and we've all lied at one time or another. Anyone who says, "I've never lied!" is a liar! At least that's my opinion. I'm not justifying our lies, we need to repent and turn from lying. We need to change. It's not good to be a false witness, it's better to be yourself. When we lie we're hurting ourselves and others. No good comes out of a lie! If someone e-mailed me and asked me if I ever sinned and I said "No, I never sin!" I'd be a liar and that person would feel condemned. I hope you all see how important what I'm saying, is. If we lie and say, "I've never went through anything like that!" We're making ourselves look bad because trials are how we grow. We can't grow without tough times. Let's be real with each other, not just for ourselves, but for God and others!
God bless!
