Do What You Say!

Monday's Devotion (4-28-03)

"Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:19 (KJV)

If you teach the commandments of the Lord, you need to teach them and do them yourself. If you just teach it and don't live it, you're being a hypocrite. If you want to be great in the Kingdom of God, you must live by the gospel which you teach. I'm still learning some things myself, but when I write a devotion and tell others to do something, I try to do it myself too. I don't want to be a hypocrite. It's important to abide by the commandments you teach. My picture is on this website. So what would happen if I was out somewhere and one of you saw me and I was cussing everyone out, after I just wrote a devotion about loving everyone? I wouldn't be a good witness for the Lord. You probably would never come back to this site and I couldn't blame you. This is one reason it's important to do what you teach. You wouldn't take me very serious after that. It could even turn some people away from the Lord. But the most important reason is the Lord, sees our actions. I don't think he'd be too pleased with us. I think our teachings would be in vain. This is very important, it's even important with other things and not just with the Gospel. People tell their children don't smoke or drink alcohol, then the parents go out and get drunk. Then they come back with a cigarette in their mouth. What will their kids think? I don't think the kids will listen to the parent's advice after that. Don't be a hypocrite, do what you teach others to do!

God bless!
