Born Again
Sunday's Devotion (4-27-03)
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." John 3:5-6 (KJV)
Jesus, is talking
about being baptized here. Once we're baptized in water and in the Spirit, we're
born again. I used to think that I didn't need to get baptized, but that's a lie
according to this scripture. We must be born again of water and of the Holy
Spirit, to enter into God's Kingdom. Don't get me wrong if a man turns his life
over to God, before he dies and doesn't get baptized God, is fair. I believe
that person would still enter in the Kingdom. Also God, holds us accountable for
what we know. So, if you're reading this and haven't been baptized yet, now you
know you need to. So now that's all on you. Baptism is very important. Many will
say, "We don't need to get baptized." But that's not true, who will we listen to
Jesus, himself or some man? I hate having my head dunked under water, but when
my baptism was over with I felt great. I could feel peace all that day and that
peace was the Holy Spirit. I believe once we're baptized in water God, baptizes
us in His Spirit. But if you've been baptized and don't believe you have the
Spirit, say this prayer:
"Dear Father, in Heaven. I come to you right now and I'm asking you to fill me
with your Wonderful and great Holy Spirit. I thank you, for giving your Spirit,
to all that ask. I ask you to wash a way my sins and I forgive those who have
done me wrong. Thank you, for sending your son Jesus, so that I could be born
again. In Jesus, name. A-men!"
Getting baptized is reckoning your flesh dead and becoming alive in the Spirit.
It's so you can truly live in the Spirit and not in your flesh.
God bless!
