The Love Of Money
Saturday's Devotion (4-26-03)
"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV)
We shouldn't love money. There's nothing wrong with having it and we need it to buy food and ETC, but we shouldn't love it. We shouldn't love it where we covet after it or lust for it. If we do, we could even turn from our faith and go lust for money. If we turn from our faith and go after money, we will have nothing, but sorrow. For example what good would I get out of giving up the Lord, for a million dollars? I'd have the money and I'd be living it up in the world, but I'd be empty and alone on the inside. I would have nothing, but the riches of the world and after I died, I'd have nothing, but eternal Hell fire! Man, I would really have many sorrows. I'd rather be poor with the Lord, in my heart then be rich and have sorrow in my heart. But we don't have to be poor, if we have our priorities in the right place. If we live how the Lord, wants us to we can have many blessings. We need to be generous, but if we're lusting after money we wouldn't be generous. We wouldn't want to give our money up. But if we're doing the right thing and we give our money, with an upright heart, the Lord, will bless us. To me, money, isn't everything. I'm happy that we have food on the table and a roof over our heads. I'm happy that the Lord, has chosen me. If you don't have money, take the time to look and see what you do have. If you were rich would the things and people you have now, mean as much to you? What's important in life is the Lord and your loved ones. Money needs to be put on the back burner. If we go after the Lord, we'll end up with everlasting joy. If we go after anything else, we'll end up with everlasting sorrow. Also, when you follow the Lord, riches will follow and you'll have riches in Heaven!
God bless!
