Fair God, Unfair People!
Friday's Devotion (4-25-03)
"As a dog returneth to his vomit, [so] a fool returneth to his folly." Proverbs 26:11 (KJV)
Sometimes I'll
find myself being pretty foolish. I've been doing better lately, when I realize
something isn't right, I'll quit doing it. Sometimes we find ourselves being
like the dog, who returns to his vomit. We return to our folly, just like the
dog does to his vomit. We're a lot like the dog in this sense, the dog doesn't
only return to the vomit, but he eats it up. Just like when we return to our
folly, we eat it up, we love it, so much. I think this is a problem everyone
has, at one time or another. We'll do things that we know aren't right and we'll
keep going and doing it again. I'm glad our God, is so forgiving. We do things
that hurt the Lord, then we ask for forgiveness and He forgives us. But the sad
thing is a lot of times we go and put Him through that same pain over and over
again. Our God, is fair, but we're not too fair to Him. I think we all need to
be more careful and try to be sensitive to God's feelings and do what's right.
Something that seems harmless and small to us, hurts God, a great deal. Let's
say a prayer together.
Dear Heavenly Father, I'm sorry for what I put you through. I'm sorry that I
keep doing the same sins over and over again. I ask for your forgiveness, even
though I don't deserve it. I thank you, for being merciful and forgiving. Please
change me and make me into your image. Help me not to put you through, all that
I do. Help me not to be like the dog that returns to his vomit. Thank you, for
being here for me, even though I hurt you so much. In Jesus, name. A-men!
God bless!
