Importance of God's Word

Friday's Devotion (4-18-03)

"And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:15-17 (KJV)

The Bible is how God, speaks to us. He speaks in other ways too, but mostly through His Word. The Bible is also how we learn to tell if what we're being told on the inside is really God's voice. If it goes against what the Bible says, it's not God. Scripture is able to make us wise unto salvation. Because it gives us faith, in Jesus Christ. By reading the Bible we learn how to live, it's an instruction manual. This is the most common term you'll hear about the Bible. Why is that? Because it's true the Bible is our guide and instruction manual. When you buy something that needs to be put together, who knows how to put it together better than the creator of it? So, the company that created the product puts an instruction booklet in the with the product. God, created us and knows how we should be. We don't know what we need because we didn't create us. We need to look at our instruction manual (the Bible) so we can be what God, wants us to be. We need to read the Bible daily, so we know the next step to take in building ourselves up. You know how the instruction manuals have different steps, to take before you get the finished product. If you don't take these steps you'll have an unfinished product and if you're unfinished who's going to want you? Not God, so if you don't read daily you might want to start. The only way to know God and His plan for us, is by reading His Word. If you're saying, "I don't have time to read the Bible!" Then make time, you came here and read this didn't you? Don't you watch television or read other books? Cut something else out, if you don't have time. You want to make time for God, so He'll make time for you! If you desire to be right with God, you need to read His Word!
